Addendum to previous panic

When booting in safe mode, the last message Win2k spits out before dying is:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\winnt\system32\config\system
It just hangs there.
Request for help still stands.

Have you tried booting the Windows 2000 CD? It has a rescue image of some kind, as I remember.

Not quite possible, as I don't have it with me. The contents are on my HD, on my win98 partition, if that's any help.

Uh... there is a boot disk maker thing on the CD. So if you have that on your harddrive... you can try to get it to another computer, make a boot disk, and then go into the... oh wait...

hmm... actually, I think you need the CD. And run a repair installation or something...
