Okay. I'm pissed.
I'm fucking pissed.
I might go so far as to say that I am really, really fucking pissed.

The head of HR at VA Linux is doing everything in his unholy power to block my internship...because, get this, the company doesn't HAVE any forms or procedures for interns. He's the head of HR! Why the fuck can't HE MAKE a god-damned form for it!
And he's been so effective in blocking that it's starting to look like the internship is completely squished. Gone. Done for. Dead in the water. Leaving me completely up shit creek, as I'd been planning my ENTIRE FUCKING SUMMER around this since FEBRUARY.

Someone is going to suffer for nuking my summer.

Talk to the people you were going to intern for. If the company has its head on straight, they will shortly apply very painful pressure on the HR dweeb.

If they can't or won't, then maybe you don't want to work there.

Unfortunately, VA has had more than its shares of ups and downs in this bear market. It seems they let a lot of good people go so far, and some people are quite um, inexperienced at the ballgame there. *shrug* I hope it works out for ya Tef - but I have mixed emotions about VA, honestly.

That sucks, dude. Lean on them. I would suggest su(e?)ing for loss of earnings, but ...

Seems to me you could talk more to the people who were supposedly planning this, they must be able to put some sort of deal together with the HR folks. One would hope so, anyway.
