I've been trying to get my CD burner (sony; eide) working in FreeBSD ... but to no avail! ... So um, if you have any pointers, be free to share them with me.
In linux I know you need to treat it as scsi, the kernel has an ATAPI->SCSI wrapper, for linux it's under ide interfaces or diskinterfaces, whatever and you need scg, scd, and... the other part of the wrapper, install it all and next time you boot it's a scsi device, make sure you makedev scg, that's what the burner software uses, scd is for mounting. But uh... probably shouldn't use this, even for linux, as it's been about a year since I touched it. :)
