The Shrub signed an executive order creating the "Office of Faith and COmmunity Initiative" today. Which is basically a way for him to pay off the religious far-right who got him elected. Grrrr.
King George II is also common. Also interesting is the name in this quip from a poem:
Strike up the band! Hurrah! Hooray! 'Tis the hour of right's might: Coronation Day! Now greet the man raised to rule me and you, Our court-appointed king, His Fraudulency II!
Too bad the first ammendment doesn't guarantee us freedom FROM religion.
Also, what if a religious groups want to have a family-planning thing for poor people. It'll be funny to see George's reaction if that happens.
While Bush and other supporters have said this will not force anyone to go to a church or anything of that nature, that is incorrect. They also mentioned that churches will be able to 'bid' on social service contracts (like soup kitchens or such, I assume). Which implies that someone (a particular church or group) will WIN, and they will be the ONLY ones to receive funding.
Aside from being worried that our congress will pass such a blatantly unconstitutional law, I'm appaled at the thought that any of my tax dollars will go to support any religion.
