Nov. 30th, 2002 01:16 amSaw Die Another Day. It ripped off pretty much every previous Bond film, abused the hell out of Matrix-style fast pans and bullet time, and had the usual amount of outright impossibilities, but it wasn't at all bad. John Cleese makes a better Q than I thought he would, and having Bond start out in disgrace was a new plot twist.
Real classic old-school villain, too. Go see it if you've a few hours to kill.
I did notice that before the movie, besides the usual half hour of previews, they showed a *solid* 30 minutes of ads. This is one of the reasons I DON'T go to the movies that often - or watch TV that often - I HATE being bombarded with ads like that. Product placement in the movie was pretty blatant too, but that's pretty much expected by now...but 30 continuous minutes of ads even before the PREVIEWS? Meh.
More bookstore runs planned for tomorrow - dunno what else yet. I guess we'll burn that bridge when we come to it.
