You know, while I may enjoy anime, I can't stand the cutesy culure that grows up around it. Anime-style smileys, bits of Japanese randomly dropped into sentences, and excessive cuteness just serve to irritate me.

Or maybe I just can't relax.

no you're right.

tef-kun!! Shibaraku desu ne! -_-; Otaku desu! You are otaku too, ne?! Ogenki desu ka?? ^_^

*shoots self*

bklrlbrbrgghrg.

That's what really irritates me about the cutesy anime fans. They learn all this Japanese, but they just use Romaji. If they were TRUE otaku, shit like that would read like this:

tef-kun!! しばらくですね! -_-; お宅です! You are おたく too, ね? 御元気ですか?? ^_^

But it doesn't, BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO STUPID TO INSTALL JAPANESE LANGUAGE SUPPORT.

But I digress.

[Note: I don't speak Japanese. I just found that crap in Japanese lessons on the web. I typed in the Romaji and let the Japanese IME convert it however it pleased. It's probably wrong.]

It's not even just that you are on the high moral ground in terms of authenticity. It is just plain annoying. It annoys me, and I wouldn't know good anime if it jumped out of the television and kicked my arse.

Same here. Well, except for the enjoying anime part. ;P I have seen some I like, but in general it doesn't appeal to me, and I'll admit that the cultures that have grown up around it--both the cutesy one and the scarier one--have a lot to do with that.

You know, I think jumping out of the television and kicking your arse automatically qualifies it as good anime. ;)
