Writing in Graffiti is too slow, and a keyboard is too bulky.
Besides, I think better when I'm bouncing ideas off someone (even my parents), and a tape recorder will let me capture ideas.

heh. In
Death of a Salesman
, the salesman's boss gets a tape recorder (which is a new invention...150$ at the time!).
This salesman is the same one that dies in the end (hence, the title of the book)
