Indecisiveness sucks. I woke up an hour early today worrying about whether I was making the right choice in iris's new OS or not...

So, yeah. Someone brought up a valid concern: Can iris's ancient 1x cd-rom drive even READ CD-Rs?

Okay, finishing the backups. Think Solaris will go on later tonight; I'll post before that happens.

Okay. Over the course of the next few days, I will be migrating iris over to Solaris 8.
Some downtime will, sadly, be the result of this.
I did back up everyone's /home, in addition to the contents of /etc and /var.
I'm going to try to get everything restored and working by the end of the week. Priorities for install:
1. OS. Duh.
2. GNU tools. Also duh.
3. QMail, IMAP, and beginning to readd users.
4. SSH, continuing to do same.
5. BIND, ditto.
6. Apache, ditto.
7. Misc services, finish restoring homedirs.
Anyway, like I said, I'll try to have everything done by end of week.
(PS: Kev, if you wanted the X libs, why didn't you just ASK? :p)

(PPS: Yes, mail will be down during this. Sorry for the inconvenience. I'll try to have it back up ASAP, naturally).

Solaris 8's installer blows goats.
My Solaris 7 CD doesn't even WORK.
Therefore: NetBSD.
Rest of plan still applies.

NetBSD installer is...amazingly fast.
