you know...
all I am is pieces of everyone I know.
I really don't see anything original in myself...and this probably explains a lot.
Does anyone else see more than a grain of truth in this?

Hmm... even if you _were_ just pieces of others (I don't necessary think this is so), the specific combination that is _you_ is not replicated anywhere else... so would you be any less unique? How is this different from originality?

And what about the others? Were they at one point original, or are they pieces of everyone _they_ meet?

And if the latter is true, is there any such thing as "originality?" And if so, from whence did the original originality issue?

Ach. Don't mind me; it's late ;P

G'night! :)

Recognize? Yes.

Truth? No.

It is difficult to recognize originality in oneself. Most who claim to have done so are delusional. Your statement, if anything, demonstrates normality.

The trick is to recognize pieces of a lot of different people.

Cheers...

True originality is incredibly difficult to come by. Listening to all my music and watching all my movies I can pick appart where all sorts of different things come from. And if I can't do that, oftentimes in movies people are writing up characters or events almost exactly as they've been in their real life, so it doesn't really originate in their head. Basically what I'm getting at is that originality comes from taking bits and pieces of others and rearranging them in such a way that's not been seen at all or often before.

Kinda funny that you're going through this crisis now when I've been feeling recently that I can't seen enough of myself in everyone else. I feel TOO unique on some levels. People are unable to relate to me. Maybe your position might be a little bit better. If you are other people, then you're gonna be able to understand them a lot better and vice versa.
